The Castle Class Utility Diesel is a freelance model inspired by the machines found on most present day heritage railways. These can often be found operating out of season passenger services, works trains in order to carry out essential track maintenance, and are also rescue locomotives. It is not uncommon for them to have dual brake systems (air and vacuum) so that they can be coupled to any item of rolling stock. The model has a body inspired by the machines operating on the Ffestiniog Railway, built from parts supplied by Baguley Drewry.

The model includes a fully detailed cab interior, flush glazing, etch grill and etch name and works plates. other fine details include handrails, separately fitted windscreen wipers and full representation of the brake and sanding gear. Couplings are housed in NEM Pockets for ease of changing. There is a range of four colours, with each named after an English Castle ruin.
Rheidol No.10 is powered by a Kato 11-109 chassis. As with all our models, each order is oiled and tested prior to dispatch, to ensure smooth running out of the box. This model is intended for layouts with curves of at least 9" radius. As with all our models these are built using additive manufacture, and although the layers are incredibly small (1/20th of a millimetre) in some light you may be able to see build lines and structural ripples.
