The United Kingdom has had several narrow gauge tramways during the 19th and 20th century, notable amongst them are the Glyn Valley, Hafan and Talybont, and Alford and Sutton. The freelance tram "Sutton" represents a machine that may have run on such a tramway. The body is freelance, but similar in the styling of steam trams built during the turn of the century, featuring ornate ironwork and lining.
The model is powered by a Kato 11-109 chassis. Due to the delicate nature o the roof supports, the cab roof is not removable, but the open sides mean the interior detail is easy to appreciate. Original drawings have not been used in making this model, but boiler arrangement is heavily inspire by that of the Wisbech and Upwell J70 machines.
The locos include fitted etch-brass works plates and are equipped with NEM coupling pockets fitted with Peco GR-102 couplings. The internal boiler carries a wealth of detail including full representation of pipework and dual control linkages. This model is intended for layouts with curves of at least 9" radius.
