The Vale of Rheidol Railway is operated by a fleet of 3 steam locomotives, built in 1923 by the Great Western Railway. In 1987, the railway was privatised and owned by the same company that ran the Brecon Mountain Railway. In order to supplemented the steam fleet, a diesel locomotive, Number 10, was built using parts from Baguley-Drewry. This machine is not as powerful as the steam locomotives, and is primarily used for shunting, works trains and light operations.

This is the first diesel locomotive modelled by Fourdees Limited. It includes a fully detailed cab interior, realistic jack-drive motion, flush glazing and NEM coupling pockets.
Rheidol No.10 is powered by a Graham Farish 08 chassis, with custom etch parts. As with all our models, each order is oiled and tested prior to dispatch, to ensure smooth running out of the box.
